In November 2016, The Bradley International Group opened a new Dubai Office and Showroom. This expanded Bradley Corporation's 30-year commitment of supplying building products for Middle East design, engineering and construction projects.
Since 2009, The Bradley BIM Initiative has supported architects, engineers and contractors; that are using Revit-BIM processes in the Middle East markets. My visit to the new Bradley Dubai Office and Showroom; provided some late afternoon \ early evening trips to a few local architectural destinations.
I thoroughly enjoyed teaching and meeting over 350 design-construction professionals during my two-week AIA-CES Bradley BIM Tour.
The opportunity to experience this region's amazing architecture, culture and people was truly a memorable adventure.
My personal thanks to Mohamed Barakat, Bradley's International Sales Manager for our Middle East clients. His personal efforts to take us to these destinations at the end of our work day; contributed to my ability to successfully shoot the images in this photo gallery.
#1 - Building Product Manufacturer (BPM) Website Hosts BIM Files
Typically, a Building Product Manufacturers' (BPM) Marketing Department creates BIM files to promote the specification of their products; within their clients’ BIM design projects.
While BIM files promote the manufacturer’s brand; successful pre-built BIM files provide real cost-savings to the BPM's design + contracting customers. BPM BIM files provide the manufacturers' distribution network with digital planning tools to assist designers + contractors' with their project product selection process.
Logically, a Marketing Department should choose the building product manufacturer's website as the first and best location for file-hosting of their BIM files.
Links to the BPM's digital design files (BIM, CAD, Specifications, Product Tech Data Sheets) should be prominently displayed on the front page of the corporate website
Indicate the BIM file-types of your products for your clients to download. (Revit, ArchiCAD, Vectorworks or Bentley BIM files)
Within the BIM Library, populate product images, contact links, product warranties, construction specifications and tech data sheets around your individual BIM files.
Fact:Designers expect to find and search for a BPM's BIM files on the BPM website, first. They assume the most current files are located on the BPM website with all supporting documentation.
Tip:Do not syndicate the BIM Files with BPM BIM File Library Websites or BIM File modeling service websites; until the BIM library is completely hosted on the BPM website.
For example, our corporate BIM Library website annually delivers more than 6 million Revit model downloads to our visitors. Collectively, four different BIM Libraries that host \ syndicate Bradley Revit models, achieve only 10% of our total annual website downloads.
The Bradley BIM library was hosted on our corporate website for 18 months; prior to adding other BIM Library services. BPMs want the majority of ALL visitor traffic to come to the BPM website. Links to the BPM BIM library files, should NOT take their visitors to their BIM Library; that is NOT on the BPM website.
#2 - Know Your Client Market & Design Tools
Where are you selling the majority of your products? USA? Europe? UK? Middle East? China? Australia?
What BIM software are your design and construction clients using in your major sales market(s)?
The Bradley BIM Initiative (founded in 2009) achieved five (5) new milestones for serving architects, engineers, contractors and facility owners using BIM processes and Revit. In 2014, Bradley BIM expanded its roles into these five (5) processes:
1) BIM for MEP General Contractor (GC) Prefabrication
2) Revit Content Interoperability (Bentley)
3) Revit Model Data Standards
4) Design-Build | Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) with an Expanded Digital Toolset
5) Revit As-built Model | General Contractor Collaboration
1) BIM for MEP General Contractor (GC) Prefabrication
In late 2013, I visited several BIM-based MEP GC fabricators; that were using Bradley TMV and re-circulation stations models in their CADmep plumbing fabrications. One firm was constructing one of the nation's largest corporate facility projects. Throughout 2014, we confirmed national MEP GC\Fabricators using Bradley Revit models.
Bradley specifications debuted in e-SPECS starting with the June 2012 Update to e-SPECS subscribers.
e-SPECS for Revit automates the process of creating specification documents integrated with Autodesk Revit-based applications. e-SPECS for Revit includes the e-SPECS Binding Manager to link Revit families to your specification master automatically. This includes filtering the sections based on the families and parameters in the BIM Model.
From January 2012 - June 2015 more than20 million Bradley Revit families were downloaded from the Bradley website.
Bradley BIM uses several Autodesk software tools (Autodesk Revit [Architecture and MEP], AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Seek) to deliver more than 1,000 Revit families; to architects, engineers, contractors and facility owners.
My flights, hotel and class registrations are complete.
I'll be traveling with the Bradley International Team in Dubai to meet with Revit\BIM-based design, engineering, and construction firms with their building owners.
The Bradley International Team will be presenting at the May 10-12 2015 Dubai Airport Show --my visit will be scheduled after the show. Watch for future announcements.

Dubai BIM Mandate: Dubai Municipality became the first public authority in the Middle East to mandate the use of building information modelling (BIM) for most large-scale projects in the Emirate.
Our meeting agenda will provide me with the opportunity to visit a project; where I served as Senior Revit Training and Technical Consultant for the Masdar Headquarters.
I provided the initial training for 30+ Chicago architects, while configuring and documenting the initial Revit project standards. As a technical adviser to the IT Manager and BIM Manager; I served to define server, systems, software, network, and Revit workflows-workset configurations.
My project goal; provide a foundation of best practices, Revit training, project standards and support; upon which the project team could become self-sufficient.
The Bradley BIM Initiative, that began in the summer of 2009; reached an anniversary milestone of 5 years serving architects, engineers, contractors and facility owners.
From January 2012 - July 2014 more than 13 million Bradley Revit families were downloaded from Bradley website.
Bradley BIM uses several Autodesk software tools (Autodesk Revit [Architecture and MEP], AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Seek) to deliver more than 1,000 Revit families; to architects, engineers, contractors and facility owners.
Watch for updates as Bradley BIM prepares for AU 2014.
