How to Add Bradley Product Revit Material Catalogs to Project

Posted by Daniel Hughes on May 17, 2017 4:40:00 PM

Bradley has created custom Revit Material Catalogs for all materials specific for Bradley products.

Bradley Revit Material Catalogs can be downloaded for

A link to Bradley Revit Materials is found on the Bradley Bradley BIM-Revit Library Page in the right margin.

All materials use a naming convention that is consistent with materials already supplied in Revit.

Bradley Revit Material Catalogs are unique as material definitions are attached to individual "Chips" in a Revit Project file (*.rvt) file (shown above).

A Revit user can copy a material chip(s) from the Material Project File and paste it into their Revit Project File. When the chip is pasted into their project; it carries the material definition into the project. Just delete the chip and the material definition remains in the project.

  1. find and select the Bradley product family in the project,
  2. select the material parameter in the Property Browser and
  3. select the added Bradley Material in the project Material Browser dialogue box.

This copy-paste process avoids using  the 'Transfer Project Standards' dialogue box; that would transfer ALL the materials into the client Revit project. This keeps the project file smaller; while keeping the Project Material Library clean from unwanted \ unused materials.

When you download our Material Catalogs, you will receive them as separate .zip files.

Inside the downloaded .zip files  is a Revit Material Project file (*.rvt ) and the corresponding material .jpg image files; that are Bradley materials. The material .jpg files are required for the Revit rendering process.

  1. Copy all the .jpg image files into a Bradley folder in your firm's Manufacturer Material Library folder.
  2. Add this new folder to the 'folder search path' that Revit Rendering searches to find material image files.
  3. In the Revit Options Dialogue box, select Rendering tab in the left margin.
  4. Select the 'plus + symbol' to add the new directory.
  5. The icon with dots " ...  "appears in the right.
  6. Select the dots to browse to and select the Bradley material folder that was added.
  7. Revit will now automatically search this folder list for materials, when rendering a view.

Revit 10-Step Guide to Setup Lights for Interior Renderings

Posted by Daniel Hughes on Apr 28, 2016 9:40:03 AM

You place your Revit camera in your Revit floor plan and and point to a target point across the space to display the perspective image of that space.

Next, you pick the Revit Render button --and Presto! You get a 'black screen' view of your room.

If there's an exterior window, portions of the room may appear from the exterior sun light coming thru the window.

You can see the lights in your reflected ceiling plan; but the lights don't produce light in your room.

- 5 Revit Presentation Tips | Architect Steven Shell -

Here's a startup sequence for Turning ON the Lights for Revit Interior Renderings.

The first step to turning on the lights for Revit Interior renderings is choosing one of the 2 lighting schemes that use Artificial lights (ceiling an/or walls).

1) Make sure you've placed your Revit lights in the ceiling and/or on your walls
2) Go to your 3D View that you wish to Render.
3) Pick RENDER command ( VIEW Tab > RENDER)
4) To access interior  lights specify a Lighting Scheme that uses Artificial Lighting

5) Next, select Artificial Lights

6) Create a new light group for lights that are located in the specifc space that will be rendered.

7) Next, select the Group Name and pick Edit

8) Pick the Add button in the pop-up dialogue box to add light fixture models to the Group.

9) At this time, you may need to go to the Reflected Ceiling plan to select the lights to place in this group.

* If all the lights are visible in the view, select them without going to the Reflected Ceiling Plan.

This video is an example of a procedure that allows the designer to quickly create multiple "walk through" animations for client design proposals and reviews.

Creating just one fully rendered walk-through animation could take several days when using Revit. Using this procedure, the designer can create multiple video animations while providing the owner with photo-realistic images of their proposed building design.

Thanks to Adam Wrzeski at BCE Engineers for alerting us to a situation with our Bradley Revit Family Evero Material Catalog.

One of the Revit material definitions was not downloading, even though it was in the file. We've tracked down the problem to a busted link and re-posted the corrected file.
